Most Tokenized Stock Trading Happens Outside Regular US Market Hours

Trading activity in tokenized equities on major public blockchains is predominantly taking place outside standard U.S. stock exchange operating hours. On BNB Chain, more than 70 percent of tokenized stock trading volume occurs outside regular trading hours, while off-hours trading accounts for 63 percent of volume on Solana and nearly 60 percent on Base. On Jupiter, a trading platform on Solana, tokenized asset volume grew 50 percent month over month.

The shift highlights round-the-clock liquidity as a primary driver for moving equities onchain, allowing global investors to trade equities when traditional markets are closed. The total value of tokenized equities has increased 15 percent over the past month to nearly $3.3 billion. Prominent issuers in the sector include Ondo Global Markets, xStocks, and bStocks, whose digital tokens trade across multiple blockchain networks.

Regulatory adjustments may soon expand tokenized stock trading within domestic U.S. markets. The Securities and Exchange Commission recently established an innovation exemption permitting eligible venues to trade tokenized U.S.-listed stocks on public blockchains. Participating platforms must publish U.S. dollar trade prices, execution sizes, timestamps, daily volumes, and liquidity pool balances. Unlike existing products that restrict U.S. access, compliant venues will be able to offer tokenized shares directly to U.S. investors while maintaining shareholder rights.
