Egypt Automotive Sales Rise 25.8% in First Eight Months of 2026

Automotive sales in Egypt expanded 25.76% year-over-year in the first eight months of 2026, reaching 135,445 vehicles compared to 107,710 units during the same period in 2025. Passenger car purchases grew 22% to 101,492 units, while bus sales surged 78.5% to 12,101 units. Truck sales also increased 22.7% over the eight-month period to 21,852 units.

The overall growth indicates steady expansion in automotive demand throughout the year, even as momentum moderated slightly in late summer. In August alone, total vehicle sales rose 5.6% year-over-year to 18,576 units, backed by a 7.8% gain in passenger car sales to 14,352 units. However, monthly truck sales fell 15.9% to 2,572 units, pulling back from earlier gains.

Investors and market observers will look to see whether automotive demand sustains its double-digit expansion through the final months of the year. Key factors to track include whether truck demand recovers from its August decline and if high bus sales keep driving commercial fleet expansion across the region.
