Home Bancorp Reports Q3 Profit Decline as Credit Costs and Funding Squeeze Margins

Home Bancorp, Inc. (HBCP) reported net income of $10.1 million, or $1.28 per diluted share, for the third quarter of 2026. Earnings declined from $11.6 million, or $1.48 per share, in the second quarter. Despite the profit fall, the company declared a quarterly dividend of $0.32 per share.

Profitability was challenged by higher funding expenses and an increase in troubled loans. The bank net interest margin dropped 5 basis points from the prior quarter to 4.19%. Results were also lowered by roughly $0.86 million in interest reversals, which reduced loan yields by approximately 12 basis points. Meanwhile, nonperforming assets jumped 37% sequentially to $53.7 million, representing 1.49% of total assets, leading to a $1.0 million credit loss provision.

Investors will be watching whether credit quality stabilizes and if net interest margins can hold steady against funding pressures in upcoming quarters. Managing nonperforming assets and credit reserve levels will remain central to earnings recovery.
